Small Lithium Batteries

Lithium batteries pose a significant and special risk in transport. Regulators have changed the rules multiple times in the last few years. This course explains the many requirement for the shipment of small lithium batteries under 49CFR, IATA and IMDG regulations. Content focuses on batteries qualifying for special provisions and Part 2 of IATA packing instructions that do not require specification packaging or full shipping papers. Additional changes will occur in 2010.

Air Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air(IATA/ICAO)
Attend this straight forward, dynamic course to fulfill your international air dangerous goods transportation training needs. Each student will receive a detailed explanation of shipper's responsibilities, use of the regulations, classification basics, packaging, marking, labeling, and documentation. Detailed coverage of Dangerous Goods in Excepted Quantities and Limited Quantities will SAVE your company TIME and MONEY! 8 hour length. Retraining is required every two (IATA requirement) or three (US requirement) years.

Water Transport of Dangerous Goods by Water(IMDG)
This fast paced, to-the-point course is designed to help fulfill your international dangerous goods by water transportation training needs. Each student will receive a detailed explanation of shipper's responsibilities, use of the regulations, classification basics, packaging, marking, labeling, and documentation. The focus is on non-bulk packaging and shipper's duties. 8 hour length. Retraining is required every three years.

  • Cost: $400 ($375 if registered ten days before course date)
  • Course limited to 5 students.
Basic Hazardous Materials Transport (49CFR)
This course is designed to help your company fulfill the function specific training requirements of 49 CFR 172.704 for hazmat employees. Anyone handling, transporting, preparing, or responsible for hazardous material shipments should attend this comprehensive course. Each student will learn the organization, use, and the requirements of Title 49 CFR, Parts 171 to 180. Students will gain practical experience in classification, packaging, marking, labeling, documentation, placarding and loading. The course is based on the requirements of HM-181 and HM-126F. 8 hour length, depending on the number of students. Retraining is required every three years.

Exceptions for Hazardous Materials Transportation
This course is designed to provide additional function specific training for hazmat employees. Anyone offering, preparing, or responsible for hazardous material shipments wishing to take advantage of exceptions should attend this comprehensive course. Each student will learn to make the most of available exceptions, such as Small Quantities, Dangerous Goods in Excepted Quantities, Consumer Commodities and Limited Quantities. Students will gain practical experience in determining the best exception to use. 8 hour length.
  • Requires completion of 49 CFR and IATA training before attending.
  • Classroom course by request.
Shipping Infectious Substances
This course teaches the requirements for ground and air transport of biological materials. This includes items classified as infectious, category A or B, biological products, patient specimens or regulated medical waste. Discussion of Dry Ice is also included. 8 hour length. Retraining is required every two years.

Materials of Trade Exception
If you have sales reps, maintenance workers, service personnel, or any employees that regularly transport hazardous materials in the course of their work day, YOU SIMPLY MUST have them attend. This course will teach employees to take full advantage of the Materials of Trade Exception. Your company will SAVE enormous amounts of TIME, MONEY and avoid regulatory headaches! 1 hour length .
